Description
The "District Meter Areas" course was developed to introduce water operators and utility personnel to an effective strategy for managing water distribution systems and reducing water loss. As utilities face increasing challenges related to aging infrastructure, non-revenue water, and leak detection, the implementation of District Meter Areas (DMAs) has become an important operational practice. This course provides foundational knowledge on the purpose, design, and operation of DMAs, including how distribution systems are divided into monitored zones to track flow and identify abnormalities that may indicate leaks or system inefficiencies. The course aims to help operators better understand how DMA implementation supports water conservation, system performance monitoring, and more efficient distribution system management.
