Description
Security and cybersecurity need to be an on-going priority in the water industry due to the potential public health impacts that could result from a security breach. This course provides operators of water and wastewater systems with a description of the importance of implementing security measures, along with a breakdown of a system’s assets, potential threats, vulnerabilities, basic overview of cybersecurity, and the components of an emergency response plan. This is an update to DEP's existing SEC01 Securing Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities 2954 course in Earthwise Academy.

Course Content
Introduction - opening, objectives, agenda; Unit 1 "Basic Security Methods," - protecting critical assets, stages of protection; Unit 2 "Cybersecurity" - EPA's Cybersecurity 101, Cybersecurity Risks & Tools, System Response; Unit 3 "Emergency Response Plans" - 6 elements of an ERP using template. Each Unit of the course contains lessons with ungraded knowledge checks, and each Unit contains a graded Unit Test.
