After a decade of implementing the RTCR, it became apparent that additional refresher training for Department staff was needed. Specifically, responses to potential violations for RTCR assessments indicated that focused training on assessments and correctives actions were needed. This course follows the development and publication of an RTCR assessment job aid.

Basic thru Intermediate

In this course, we will do a quick review of why the Revised Total Coliform Rule was developed and discuss statistics from the first decade of implementation of the rule. We will look at RTCR assessment ‘Repeat Offenders’ and discuss possible indicators of concern where additional Department intervention may be needed. We will review RTCR assessment corrective actions and the ‘Find & Fix’ approach of RTCR. We will look at common mistakes we’ve seen in the PADWIS entry of corrective actions and will have an activity where we ‘fix’ problematic corrective action entries. There will be an activity where participants match a photograph of a well with the most appropriate corrective action, from a pool of options. Finally, we will compare assessments and RTNC inspections and review how an RTNC inspection can be conducted in place of a missing or incomplete assessment.
