Description
This course presents current safe practices for Confined Space and Permit Required Confined Space (PRCS) entry work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and meets the training requirements promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (29CFR1910.146) for PRCS entry.

* Recognition and identification of Confined Spaces and PRCS * OHSA: Permit Required Confined Space Regulatory Review * ANSI and NIOSH Confined Space Standards Review * Identification of Confined Space Hazards * The Written Confined Space Plan * Safe Work Practices: The Permit Entry System, Isolation, Ventilation, and Inerting * Toxicology: Atmospheric Monitoring equipment (practical exercise) * Personnel Protective Equipment (practical exercise) * Harnesses, Ropes, Knots and Retrieval Equipment (practical exercise) * Field Drills (horizontal and vertical entry (practical exercises to demonstrate competency)
Target Audience
The course is targeted for confined space entry personnel and supervisors in facilities possessing PRCS, entry attendants, industrial/plant safety officers and individuals responsible for employee safety in confined space atmospheres.

Classroom
