Description
One of the most important parts of establishing a pretreatment program is the calculation of appropriate limitations. Each industrial facility discharging into the municipal sewer system is required to achieve these discharge limits. If they fail to meet them, the community may take enforcement action against the industry. These limits are designed to protect the collection system and treatment plant from wastes that may interfere with the treatment process or cause physical harm to the system. It also limits those wastes that may pass through the municipal plant untreated. This course will teach students how to calculate the local limits, discuss areas where judgement is necessary, and provide guidance on the exercise of that judgement. The students will also be expected to work threough practical, real-life examples to demonstrate their knowledge of the principles discussed in the training session.
