Description
OSHA has established the Occupational Noise Exposure Standard 29 CFR 1910.95 to provide requirement for protection against the effects of noise exposure on employee hearing. The standard requires that you do these things: * Measure and monitor the level of noise in your workplace. * Test the hearing of employees exposed to excessive noise levels. * Create a hearing conservation program and provide hearing protection to employees exposed to noise levels at or above 85 decibels averaged over an 8-hour period, also known as an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA). * Require hearing protection to be worn by employees exposed to noise levels at or about 90 decibels in an 8-hour TWA. * Provide annual training for all employees. * Keep records of hearing conservation activities. * Implement engineering controls where possible. * Post a copy of the standard. * Provide a variety of ear protectors for employees to choose from.
