Description
This course will review how the human senses work (for tasting and smelling), what types of odors and tastes contribute to drinking water problems, what chemicals cause these, where do these chemicals come from, what are the common means to treat them, how to respond to customer complaints on taste and odor, and what testing can be done to monitor for taste and odor. Videos will be used to break up the lecture. Some hands on demonstrations will be used to demonstrate the human senses. The course will provide an overview of taste and odor issues and their control at the level of a water quality manager or operator.
