Description
This course consists of the actual development of a written wellhead protection plan/program for an actual public water supply. It includes an action plan to minimize the risks and implementation of aspects of that program. Source water assessment reports (SWAP) were recently completed for public water supplies. These reports define the wellhead/source water protection area and locations of risk within that area. Risks are ranked on a scale of high to low. Wellhead protection is a well documented method for improving water quality and reducing treatment costs. This course is targeted toward small water systems that serve populations <= 500 that have limited access to resources to apply toward treatment or new sources.
