Description
The operator certification act requires all certified operators to report to the owners any conditionsthat may constitute a violation of applicable regulatory requirements or permit conditions. Failure to do so may result in penalties, including civil fines and loss of certification. This course provides operators with an understanding of: (1) their legal obligations under the Certification Act; (2) the concepts of statutes, regulations, permits, and guidelines; (3) how to read and understand a regulation or permit condition; (4) the three Pennsylvania regulatory programs that affect wastewater operators; and (5) the conditions in the NPDES permit.
* The 4 hour version has been revised to include a section on the upcoming certified operator regulations (Title 25, Chapter 303).

Target Audience
This course is intended for certified wastewater systems operators. However, non-certified operators will benefit from the information, as well as municipal officials who are required to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and the NPDES permit. Understanding the requirements that certified operators must meet will also help municipal officials to understand the purpose and nature of the reports that they will begin to receive from operators.
