Description
This course is broken into three section: (1) Heat Disorders and Health Effects, (2) Personal Protection Equipment, and (3) Workplace Review, Accident Follow-up, and Measurement; all into a one hour course. Operations involving high air temperatures, radiant heat sources, high humidity, direct physical contact with hot objects, or strenuous phusical activities have a high potential for inducing heat stress in employees engaged in such operations. Such places include: electrical utilities, chemical plants, boiler rooms, blower rooms, and others.
Outdoor operations conducted in hot weather, such as construction, refining, hazardous waste activities, and utilities; especially those that require workers to wear semipermeable or impermeable protective clothing, are also likely to cause heat stress among exposed workers. The course includes OSHA Investigation Guidelines
