Description
Understanding the process of installing and maintaining pipe is important knowledge for the water operator, as it will help the operator fully understand the operation of the utility. New water mains may be installed for a variety of reasons, including providing service to new customers, replacing old pipes, and reinforcing the water distribution system to increase the amount or pressure of water delivered. This course covers water distribution system design and layout, details of excavation, water main installation in the excavation as well as backfilling, disinfecting the piping, and testing the system before use.
