Description
The purpose is to teach operators how to safely start up, operate and shut down clarifiers. There will be less emphasis on maintenance and procedures, and more emphasis on operation or the clarifiers.

* Description of various types of sedimentation basins and how they work
* Start up and shut down sedimentation basins
* Operation and maintenance a sedimentation process and basins
* Collection of samples and analysis of results for a sedimentation process
* Keeping records of a sedimentation process and basins
* Safe performance of duties around a sedimentation basin
* Description and discussion of flotation clarifiers, uses, operations and loading factors
* Inspection and placing in service new sedimenation and flotation equipment for proper installation and operation
* Scheduling and conducting operation and maintenance duties
* Sampling influent and effluent, interpretation of lab results, and making appropriate adjustments
* Recognizing factors that indicate a clarifier is not performing properly, identifying the source of
