Description
Corrosion is a process that attacks buried or submerged metallic structures (piping, tanks, clarifiers, lift stations) often resulting in service disruptions along with increased operation and maintenance cost. The goal of this presentation is to identify and explain in an easily understood manner the corrosion process and its impact on these structures and proven methods that can be employed to prevent corrosion attack. Topics can be reviewed and discussed will include stray electrical currents, aggressive soils, bimetallic coupling, coating, materials selection, cathodic protection and polyethylene encasement. Several case histories will be reviewed and discussed.
Course Level
Basic thru Intermediate
