Description
This course teaches the student the basic principles of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. Cavitation, recirculation, net positive suction head and vibration are discussed and defined. Troubleshooting is taught by checking measurable parameters such as discharge pressure, suction pressure, and amperage. Performance of the pump is then matched to design limits and the pump curve becomes a valuable troubleshooting tool. Proper application and maintenance are stressed. Various sealing methods are covered, and several types of packing and mechanical seals are discussed. Proper maintenance techniques and lubrication as well as basics of electric motors, bearing, seals, and alignment are covered.
