Description
This course provides a review of acceptable operating conditions (pH, F/M, DO, anoxic, alkalinity, etc) required for successful treatment efficiency of the activated sludge process. The course also provides "microlife" monitoring tools (microscopy, SOUR, pH, NH3, etc) that can be used to detect an "unstable" biomass and detect and correct loss of solids and settleability problems. Factors responsible for each loss of solids and settleability problem are identified.
