Description
One of the largest costs to a water/wastewater plant is the disposal of sludge, so good operation is of interest to plant management. Many plants use centrifuges to thicken and/or dewater the sludge. During commissioning, often many years ago, the manufacturer gave some training and that training has been passed down by word of mouth. It is common for no one at the plant to really understand what is going on, or what can be done to improve their performance. At present there is no one training (or retraining) the operators in how to operate centrifuges nor how to troubleshoot process problems they encounter.
