Description
This course is designed for participants to be able to demonstrate knowledge of the 3 types of water and the hydrologic cycle and groundwater usage in the U.S. and Pa. The student will need to identify the 4 different types of aquifers and locate them on a Pa map, differentiate between the various types of groundwater sources and list the water supply alternatives for source development. The student will also identify main components of well construction as well as determine the special construction requirements. The student will be able to explain the source water protection plan requirements and components and describe a drought contingency plan.

* List 4 types of groundwater aquifers found in PA
* Identify the location of principal groundwater aquifers in PA

* List 3 common groundwater sources in PA
* Describe water supply alternatives for source development
* Explain basic components of well construction & proper installation of casing
* Define and explain wellhead protection and its importance
* Describe the drought contingency plan
