Description
The course is designed for water treatment plant operators, waste water plant operators and plumbers. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are omitted because these are only taught to testers taking the full 32 hour course. Instruction for recerts begins in Chapter 3. Chapter 3 describes in detail how to apply protection and to prevent backflow using airgaps and backflow prevention devices. Chapter 3 will also explain how the devices work and will cover proper installation guidelines. Chapter 4 will cover the elements of a comprehensive cross-connection control program, gauge care, repair and maintenance considerations, etc. A hands-on testing work shop, held each afternoon, will allow students to practice test procedures on the reduced pressure principal assembly and double check valve assembly. . Test benches with working backflow preventers and differential pressure gauges will be used. ASSE test procedures will be reviewed will be taught in the classroom and then put into practice in the Wet Lab. A written exam will be given at the conclusion of the course to evaluate the students. Students must also demonstrate proficiency in testing assemblies covered in the course.
