Description
This course is designed to provide the theory and proper technique of the analysis listed plus calibration, care and maintenance of equipment used for the analysis. Instruction will also include sample collection guidelines, sample storage, terminology and common analytical errors.

* Ion Specific Electrode basics & theory, electrode types, measurement and operation of ISE, electrode references, methods, practical considerations & interferences and new technology *point calibrations, temperature effects on pH, the importance of electrode slope, care and maintenance and troubleshooting * Dissolved Oxygen theory including Henry’s La and partial pressure, Winkler and Clark procedures, calibration, barometric pressure, stirring, temperature & salinity effects, troubleshooting, optical DO technology and application to BOD * Overview of Chlorine chemistry, methods for chlorine analysis and DPD Colorimetric analysis * Solids Sample Collection, apparatus, analysis and factors affecting total Suspended Solids * Proper use of thermometers total, partial or complete immersion, calibration, NIST calibration and record keeping *on practice *half hour PADEP Bureau of Laboratories update and question and answer session wi
