Description
The purpose of this course was originally to provide "first responders" to a moving water emergency with knowledge and skills to prevent exposing themselves to or if inadvertantly exposed to save themselves and safely save others from falling or otherwise entering "swift water conditions". This couse is applicable to anyone who works around moving water routinely or during flooding and other swift water occurences.

Course Content
* Identify components of planning for a water related emergency
* List and describe six common moving water features.
*head-dam or drop off on a river.
* Properly don a PFD and swim, using a survival stroke, a minimum of 100 yards.
* Properly dress for weather and water conditions utilizing the layering method and cite the advantages of wearing specialized clothing (wet and/or dry suit).
* Demonstrate the following skills:
* Self rescue position
* Ferry across moving water in the self rescue position
*weighted), and support line.
* HELP and huddle positions
* Moving water crossing techniques (single and multiple rescuers)
* Hand signals
* Strainer self rescue
* Tie a figure eight loop and water knot
