Description
It is not unusual for an individual to take a trainee job in a municipal laboratory setting with a minimal scientific background. Operators are sometimes thrust into the role of laboratory analyst without having had much, if any, formal laboratory training. Even if one has completed high school chemistry and/or biology, the terminology specific to the water and wastewater field may be new. The purpose of this course is to introduce individuals desiring to work, or already working, in a water or wastewater lab to basic laboratory terminology, apparatus, and equipment

Basic thru Intermediate
Course Content
* Most of the lab terms I was familiar with, but it was good to have a more detailed definition of 1) conductivity, 2) spectrophotometer, 3) pH. Since I do monthly sampling with my work, I feel more informed about the meters I use, as well as the laboratory analyses conducted.
* Clarified some laboaroy definition Learned the difference between accurate and presice Explored laboratory instruments We use laboratory acronyms daily and sometimes the words the acronyms stand for are lost with time. This course refreshed some long forgoten definition and helps delineate terminology.
* A good review of commonly used water testing equipment
* conductivity meter used for ss conc. also. Names of two types of beakersand that the griffin beaker is the short stubby one. conductivity temp should be at 25 centigrade. Helps make the menial lab tasks at my plant less boring by adding interesting tidbits about equipment etc.
* The terminology was a good review for me a
