Description
The main purpose of this course is to teach operators how to safely start up, operate, shut down and maintain package activated sludge plants and oxidation ditches.

Course Content
* Explain the principles of the activated sludge process and the factors that influence and control the process * Inspect a new activated sludge facility for proper installation * Place a new activated sludge process into service * Schedule and conduct operation and maintenance duties * Collect samples, interpret lab results, and make appropriate adjustments in treatment processes * Recognize factors that indicate an activated sludge process is not performing properly, identify the source of the problem and take corrective action * Conduct their duties in a safe fashion * Determine aerator loadings and understand the application of different loading guidelines * Keep records for an activated sludge plant * Identify the common modifications of the activated sludge process * Review plans and specifications for an activated sludge plant
