Description
The main purpose of this course is to teach operators how to safely start up, operate, shut down and maintain clarifiers.

Course Content
* Inspect new sedimentation and flotation equipment for proper installation and operation
* Place new facilities in service
* Schedule and conduct operation and maintanence duties
* Sample influent and effluent, interpret lab results and make appropriate adjustments in treatment process
* Recognize factor that indicate a clarifier is not performing properly, identify the source of the problem and take corrective action
* Determine when, how often and how much sludge should be pumped
* Conduct their duties in safe fashion
* Explain the principles of the sedimentation and flotation process
* Determine loadings on a clarifier
* Keep accurate and appropriate records on the operation of the process
* Develop an operating strategy for clarifiers
* Review plans and specifications for clarifiers
