Description
Process control is an essential part of good plant operations. Operators will learn how to determine wasting rates by plotting settleability curves, doing microscopic analysis, doing an oxygen uptake rate on their mixed liquor, calculating F:M, calculating MCRT, calculating sludge age, and calculating sludge volume index. They will also learn how to monitor ammonia removal through better testing of the dissolved oxygen levels, the ammonia levels, the ORP readings, and alkalinity levels. They will learn how to improve ammonia removals by the use of fine pore diffusers, proper cleaning of clarifiers and other tanks, and making a better floc home for the nitrifying bacteria. Operators will also learn how to fix bulking and foaming problems and how to improve phosphate removal.
Course Level
Intermediate thru Advanced
