Description
Upgrading wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) for nutrient removal is one of the top environmental priorities in the Chesapeake Bay region. This course addresses the implications of upgrading WWTP's to Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR). Training sessions will review the basics of nitrification, denitrification, and phosphorus removal first. Various process configurations will be discussed that may be necessary to accomplish the required levels of nutrient removal. Process control testing and adjustments will also be examined to optimize BNR plant performance. The course will also address operational problems associated with BNR and discuss techniques for troubleshooting in order to provide consistent results.
