Description
This course will provide instruction and hands on practice on how to perform startup and shutdown procedures, daily rounds, complete daily logs, interpret data and make process changes, identify unusual process conditions and identify and eliminate potential safety hazards with the precipitation, coagulation and settling equipment.

* Recognize safety hazards in the operation of precipitation, coagulation and settling systems and match them to the appropriate procedures and protective equipment.
* Describe the purposes of precipitation, coagulation and settling at an industrial wastewater treatment plant.
** Give examples of industries that use precipitation, coagulation and settling and match them to the types of coagulants and equipment they typically use.
* List and describe the operation of precipitation, coagulation and settling, including systems which feed polymers and alum.
* Locate and name the parts of equipment and match the part to its function.
* Describe operational controls and procedures for precipitation, coagulation and settling.
* Sequence startup and shutdown procedures for precipitation, coagulation and settling.
* List items that are checked during daily rounds, and identify the pertinent data to be included in the daily log.
