Description
The main purpose of this course is to teach operators how to safely start up, operate, shut down and maintain sludge digestion and solids handling facilities.

* Explain how a sludge digester works and what factors influence and control the digestion process
* Inspect new sludge digesters and solids handling facilities for proper installation
* Place a new sludge digester into operation
* Schedule and conduct operation and maintenance duties
* Collect samples, interpret lab results and make appropriate adjustments in the sludge digestion and solids handling processes
* Recognize factors that indicate the sludge digestion and solids handling preocesses are not performing properly, identify the source of the problem and take corrective action
* Discuss the various methods of solids handling and know how to operate and maintain these processes
* Determine loadings on sludge digesters and solids handling facilities
* Conduct their duties in a safe fashion
