The main purpose of this course is to teach operators how to safely operate and maintain processes used to handle and dispose of process wastes.

* Explain why the operators of water treatment plants should be concerned about the handling and disposal of process wastes
* Identify the sources of water treatment plant wastes
* Drain and clean sedimentation tanks
* Discharge process wastes to collection systems (sewers)
* Operate and maintain backwash recovery ponds (lagoons) and sludge drying beds
* Dispose of process wastes
* Safely operate and maintain sludge handling and disposal equipment
* Monitor and report on the disposal of process wastes
