Description
This course is designed to educate Drinking Water Decision Makers, Managers, and Operators the importance of operating like a business. The training includes business planning, capital planning and operational and maintenance planning, Using methods to assess the current condition of the water system enables the utility personnel to plan for future capacity demands. Communities are too often surprised by expansion and repair needs that cause large rate increases. Sound planning helps utilities implement rate increases in a manner that is mire acceptable to their consumers while saving for capital costs. A small water system that has done sound business planning in all areas of their operation is a system that is better able to prepare for water shortages, protect not only the environment, but the health and welfare of the community it serves.
