Description
Provision of a 40-hour training seminar. Training shall include in accordance with the requirements specified by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) at 29CFR1910.120. This course includes use and limitations of personal and respiratory protective equipment, air monitoring equipment and several applicable elective topics. The student is required to successfully demonstrate the use of all above mentioned equipment and demonstrate a basic understanding of the requirements set forth in the standard during the hands-on segments of the training course.
The purpose is to ensure an understanding of the following:
1. Requirements of the standard
2. Common hazards associated with operating in settings and responding to incidents where hazardous materials may be present
3. Control measures for hazards
4. Use and limitations of personal and respiratory protective equipment
5. Use and limitations of air monitoring equipment
6. Proper donning, doffing and use of common equipment for use in hazardous atmospheres
