This CEU training course is a detailed explanation of groundwater production and groundwater mining along with detailed understanding pumps and motors. This is an excellent CEU training course that applies to both Water Treatment and Distribution Operators. This course also covers in detail: distribution, disinfection, chlorine, O3 and disinfection alternatives, and related disinfection byproduct fundamentals. This course will briefly cover various water quality issues E.G., tastes and odor problems and MCL/EPA Rules. This course will also cover advanced groundwater production, protection and distribution problem solving solutions.

Basic thru Intermediate

1. Water Distribution and Storage. a) List four basic questions to ask before designing a water system. b) Describe each of the elements of a water distribution system. c) Examine the purpose of distribution valves and where they should be installed. d) Compare the two classifications of water valves and give examples. e) Explain the main uses for gate valves. f) Identify reasons for butterfly valve problems and their possible solutions. g) Describe how pressure-reducing valves operate. h) Analyze the importance of storage reservoirs. i) Describe construction and maintenance of steel tanks. j) Describe corrosion control measures. k) List and explain chemicals used as corrosion inhibitors. l) Evaluate the effectiveness of cathodic protection. m) Analyze the importance of water meters. n) List problems, possible causes and solutions for distribution. 2. EPA Rule familiarity. a) Summarize the Clean Water Act. b) Compare water quality before and after the CWA was enacted. c) Discuss SDWA

The target audience for this course is the person interested in working in a water treatment or distribution facility and/or wishing to maintain CEUs for certification license, meet education needs for promotion, or to learn how to do the job safely and effectively.
