Description
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has revised the general industry electrical installation standard found in Subpart S of 29CFR Part 1910, by adopting the 2004 & 2009 edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces (NFPA 70E). The new standard requires that all employees working on or near energized electrical equipment will now be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Since American Water must provide each employee with a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA Standards, we are required to develop and implement a procedure for working safety on or near energized electrical equipment. We will then be required to carry out and enforce these procedures through our ARC Flash/Blast Protection Procedures and training. This course is designed to reinforce the content presented in the Initial - ARC Flash Protection Course, by Practical Exercises, Review of NFPA 70E Standards and Case Studies will also reinforce the seriousness of ARC Flash/Blast Protection.
