Description
This course will help operators understand nutrient removal from wastewater in a biological treatment process with explanations of biochemical processes to remove Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Total Nitrogen and Phosphorus. Discussion of control parameters such as Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids and Dissolved Oxygen will be presented. The class will also discuss biological treatment facilities which cannot achieve nutrient removal without major modification. Operators completing this course will have a better understanding of how aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic treatment cycles interact in a biological treatment process to achieve nutrient removal
