Septic tank additives are very commonly used in onsite wastewater treatment systems. Water softeners are also used in the drinking water supplies of some facilities that have onsite wastewater systems. This 1-hour online course discusses the types of septic tank additives commonly used and their impacts on the system. It also discusses the impacts of water softeners on onsite systems. The material is taken from a recently published EPA document on Onsite Wastewater Treatment.
