Description
his two hour online course presents the basic hydraulics of open channel flow and the field of engineering fluid mechanics encompassing free-surface discharge. Force balance concepts are discussed providing further insight into critical depth, a hydraulic parameter introduced from the energy perspective in the previous course. This course renders force balance to a new parameter M, "specific force", having some graphical kinship to our now-familiar tool, specific energy. Coupling the "specific force diagram" with the specific energy diagram, we'll find out more about critical depth and be able to foresee more flow behavior without grinding through too many numbers.
