The course will also show the importance of the filtration process and how the process has changed with the current importance being placed on TOC reduction & DBP regulations. The mechanical applications of the filtration processes (gravity & pressure) will be discussed to provide better understanding of the importance of operations and maintenance practices for optimized performance of filtrations systems. Performance evaluations and assessments will be discussed to show the importance of monitoring, testing and maintaining optimized water quality. Filtration media will be discussed in depth to show the contamination issues that occur and the effects of media contamination can affect overall water quality. Cost analysis will be given on media cleaning practices verses complete media change-out and how it can become maintenance expense rather than capital improvements. Practical solutions for filter performance issues will be given to enhance overall water quality. Complete case studies from various filtration facilities will be discussed to show the cost savings of media cleaning over media replacement.
