Description
This course will help operators understand control parameters to operate an Activated Sludge Process designed for Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR). The instructional material presented will explain the biochemical processes that can be utilized to remove Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Total Nitrogen and Phosphorus in biological treatment systems. Control parameters to monitor a BNR process will be introduced and explained. Measurements such as Mixed Liquor Suspended
Solids and Dissolved Oxygen and their effect on the BNR process will be discussed. The course will be specifically geared to making the operator understand the day to day adjustments of running a BNR plant. Theory be damned.
