Description
This workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of turbidity measurement techniques used in drinking water applications. Both laboratory and online instrumentation will be covered in the class. Instruments for the measurement of both raw water and filtered effluent will be presented and discussed. Proper calibration and verification techniques for each instrument will be described in presentations and practiced in a hands-on laboratory environment. The course objectives will be met by presenting theory, incorporating practical applications of analytical techniques, and through demonstration and hands-on practice using online and laboratory instrumentation. Students will be required to analze water samples of known and unknown values.
Course Level
Basic thru Advanced
Course Content
*Road to water Testing - Basic presentation that covers why and how water is testd, includes information of proper sampling. Information on turbidity measurement in drinking water will also be presented. * Introduces principles of turbidimetric analysis, laboratory covers turbidty calibration, verification, and basic techniques for turbidity analysis of raw water samples. * Presentation covering operation/ maintenance of the SS6 high rance turbidimeter, laboratory demonstrates proper calibration and verification techniques. * Practice the techniques necessary for proper low level turbidity measurement, verify low level techniques using standards, practice low level turbidity measurement. * Basic operations principles of the 1720D, 1720D maintenance and troubleshooting, calibration, and verification options. * on Lab - Lab exercises demonstrate 1720D calibration options, lab turbidity measurement techniques, and proper lab comparison.
Target Audience
Member of the target audience include water and wastewater plant operators, lab analysts and manager, quality control supervisors, regulatory personnel, and environmental protection staff - anyone who needs, operates, or utilizes data from the 1720D or routinely perfroms low level turbidity analysis.
