Description
The importance and cost of equipment typically increases with size. In the case of electrical equipment, systems operating on medium voltage (i.e. > 1000V) are typically large pumps, fans, motors, generators and electrical switchgear. Failure of this high power equipment can have serious consequences and typically compromises a water or WW facilities ability to perform within specs. This course describes a technique (called Partial Discharge sensing) to detect early warning signals within medium voltage electrical equipment, giving operations people time to react and take corrective action.
