Description
Fire hydrants are used for more than fighting fires. Water systems use hydrants to clean water lines and check water pressure. Street crews and construction workers may also use hydrants to fill cleaning equipment and tank trucks. No matter who uses the fire hydrants the water system is usually responsible for servicing and repairing them. A well maintained hydrant can protect the health and safety of a community not only for fire fighting, but also prevent cross-connections and contamination.
This course is designed to teach system personnel how to operate, service and repair hydrants. Flow testing and color coding will also be covered.
