Description
Coagulation and flocculation are essential in clearing up turbidity and settling solids. A jar testing exercise will be used to determine proper coagulant and polymer dosages for different samples. These results will be used to calculate the chemical feed rates for a hypothetical plant. A rotary viscometer will also be used to determine the activation time of a polymer. Attendees will use the results to determine the cost savings in using a properly activated polymer. Optimization of chemical dosages is not only important for producing a high quality effluent, but also in controlling treatment costs.
