Description
The purpose of this course is to provide distribution system operators with an overview of how the operations & maintenance of the distribution system will influence water quality at the tap and initiate processes for developing and continuing a good flushing program . Types of flushing :emergency /reactive, complaint driven , and proactive /routine flushing will be discussed. Samples of hydrant , valve and maintenance records will be provided .

2) Why flush? Importance of providing high quality at entry point and at the tap (Slide 11)
3)Planning and setting up a flushing program : 6 topics- Goals and Objectives, Customer Notification, Data Collection, Staffing/ tools & equipment, Cost/benefit analysis.
4) 27 slides discussing these six topics . Reference to AWWA flushing guidelines
5) Automatic flushing devices
6) 10 question quiz
