The purpose of the first segment is to examine and analyze the response efforts of the West Virginia spill thus allowing participants to develop an efficient and effective spill response plan for their system. Water systems need to prepare for the potential affects to water quality while wastewater personnel have to examine how contaminated water would affect their treatment processes. The second segment is to prepare water and wastewater personnel for a workplace violence situation, ranging from identifying potential threats to reacting to an actual event.
