Description
Provides water and wastewater operators training on health and safety concerns unique to trenching and excavating. Topics include confined space requirements, safety principles, site assessment, causes of fatalities, factors to consider before trenching and excavating, and types of excavation methods. This course provides an overview of OSHA’s 29 CFR 1926.650 Subpart P.

• List factors to consider before trenching and excavation begins. • Identify the purpose of the site assessment. • Describe the purpose of a trench box. • Specify different types of excavation sloping and shoring principles • Recognize other hazards that are present in excavation work. • Identify the cause of excavation and trenching related fatalities.
