Description
A sanitary survey is an on-site review of the water source, facilities, equipment, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of a public water system. The goal of this training is to assist state and federal regulatory staff in conducting comprehensive, technically sound sanitary surveys of small water systems. Course topics include: water regulations, sources, water treatment processes, pumps and pumping stations, cross connection, storage facilities, monitoring and lab testing, and utility management. Paricipants will utilize a comprehensive list of survey questions during a field exercise for groundwater and surface water supplied systems.

Course Content
*Update and overview on current changes and amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act regulations and their impact on water system operation. * sanitary concerns regarding groundwater and surface sources. *to-know information regarding physical and chemical water treatment processes, equipment operation and maintenance, and system management. *The sanitary considerations related to types, applications, conditions, and operations and maintenance of pumps and pumping stations. *Review of the components of a distribution system, flushing and maintenance schedules and procedures, pressure and cross connection control. *Examine the laboratory monitoring and sampling procedures and description for the process and report content with and emphasis of the need for accurate and concise documentation.
