Description
Cyanobacteria and associated toxins have become a water quality issue on the Great Lakes and in particular on Lake Erie. The Toledo, Ohio event in 2014 highlighted the risks and demonstrated the need for a concise understanding of control and removal methods for cyanotoxins in drinking water. The Erie Water Authority has developed a response plan and feels it is critical to prepare via exercises with local Regulatory, Emergency Management, Health Department, and Health Industry Partners, in order that everyone fully understand the implications of cyanotoxins in drinking water and how the Erie Water Authority is prepared to address them in the raw water drawn from Lake Erie.
