Description
Testing drinking and waste water for total coliforms and E.coli/ fecals are critical tests to safeguard our public and the environment against contamination and possible sickness or worse. The students will have an introduction to water microbiology followed by information on the RTCR for drinking water. MTF, MF and enzymatic methods will be presented which includes theory and testing for coliform bacteria. QA and QC for the methods and for most of the equipment in the microbiology laboratory will be presented. An introduction to MPN vs. CFU and confidence intervals will be reviewed. Finally, a review of HPC theory and methods will be covered.
