Description
Public water suppliers withdraw water from available resources, treat and deliver drinking water through extensive water distribution systems, where customers are typically metered and billed for consumption. Many Pennsylvania water distribution systems are aging and not keeping pace with desired maintenance and renewal needs. Leakage losses are high in many systems. Many also fail to collect the full amount of revenue to which they are entitled due to theft and metering and billing errors. Many customer meters are aging and inaccurate and should be replaced with current technology meters. This results in under-registration of water consumption, understated billings, and missed revenue for the utility. This training is the first in a series of Water Loss Control workshops where participants can learn how to control non-revenue water loss in the most efficient manner. This session will help participants understand the nature of non-revenue water in distribution systems and provide hands-on instruction in the use of the AWWA Free Water Audit Software.
