Cybersecurity threats are real and could impact water and wastewater utilities. Most utilities use some sort of automated or computer aided processes to operate their facilities and may have no idea that they are vulnerable. Utility personnel will become aware of how cyber threats could impact their utility, but also steps they can take to lower their utility's risk.

This one day course will cover the following topics in detail: - Cybersecurity Threat Overview - An overview of the National Institutes of Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework, Cybersecurity Standards & AWWA Cybersecurity Tool - Cybersecurity Tools and Resources Overview - Findings of Virginia Waterworks Cybersecurity Assessments - Facilitated Cybersecurity Response Exercises - Cybersecurity Gadget Demonstrations - Improvement Planning and Next Steps
Target Audience
This course is geared toward water and wastewater utility personnel of all job descriptions, from field personnel to operator to executive management. A sound cybersecurity protocol needs to ensure that all staff are aware of the risks and consequences of a cyber attack, as well as steps they can take to prevent one from happening.
