Description
The participants should leave the class being able to identify basic filter components within their plant, self-diagnose basic issues, optimize processes, be able to perform basic filter inspections and interpret results, and perform regular maintenance that can keep their filters running properly.

Explanation of filter components, their structure, their purpose and common issues
Explanation of best backwashing methods and principles
Instruction on how to perform filter inspections
Examples of common issues and their causes, and what further investigations to take
Basic maintenance and good practices to keep filters running well
Remediation methods that can be performed in house to correct faculty processes, media, or equipment
